Quantum Computing – Understanding It and Using It!

Quantum Computing, understanding it and using it has evolved with massive benefits for everyone and anyone. Continued refinement is required. My first exposure to the Quantum phenomenon was in 2018 when I started my studies in Integrative and Natural Medicine within a Quantum Physics framework. During the course of these studies, two concepts (amidst many other concepts) caught my attention. One of these two concepts was Superposition. And, the other concept was Entanglement.

Quantum Computing

So, why do these two phenomena interest me so much?

  • Superposition and entanglement demonstrate that there are different possibilities and ways of Being in my relationship with my patients, from session to session. We, each patient and I are typically in superposition within the relationship. And when superposition collapses during each new encounter (i.e. session), we assume one of the many viable and possible ways of relating with each other within a particular session.

  • These two phenomena (superposition and entanglement) not only gave me the permission, and freedom from attempting to preempt how to Be, in sessions with my patients. But, it has reassured my patients and I that our work during each session still has an influence on my patients between sessions, even when the are very far away from the consulting room. This has been exhilarating for me as a Healer, and Human Being, in general.

There are still some controversies about the understandability of what Quantum Physics means and does.

In some ways the quote by Physicist Richard Feynman, who won the Noble Prize for his Theory of Quantum Physics in 1965 might still hold some water. He said,

“I think I can safely say that NOBODY understands quantum mechanics.”

However, research into quantum Theory has continued from 1965, and great advances have been made. This is indeed fantastic judging by the division among early day physicists on the Quantum phenomenon.

Now, the question is…

What is Quantum Computing?

Quantum computing is based on the principles of Quantum Mechanics, which describes the behavior of energy, and matter at microscopic levels. Quantum computing uses Superposition and Entanglement, which are also Quantum Mechanics phenomena to manipulate data. Additionally, Quantum computing uses Quantum Bits, or Qubits which have the capacity to exist in multiples states at the same time. Therefore, Quantum computing is capable to process a very large amount of data much faster than Classical computers.

Quantum Computing

On the Other hand, Classical Computing which has its origins in Classical physics uses only Bits in its calculations and operations. These Bits are in binaries with values of either zero, or one to represent information. In the case of Classical computing, Bits can only have one of the two values, zero, or one, at any time. Whereas in Quantum computing Qubits have a value of either zero, one, or both, simultaneously.

What does all this Mean?

When the Bit is simultaneously a one and a zero, the Qubit is said to be in a state of superposition. In addition to this, one Qubit can influence another Qubit, even when they are very far apart from each other. When this influence happens, the states of the Qubits are said to be entangled. This entangled state allows Quantum computers process very large amounts of data faster than Classical computers.

In fact, Superposition and Entanglement are the two quantum mechanics concepts at the heart of quantum computing. These two concepts provide the Capabilities, and Speed required to reduce calculations for Cryptanalysis from years to minutes.

What is so Special about Quantum Computing?

Quantum computing is important because it has the potential to solve complex problems such as decrypting encrypted messages, which is currently beyond what Classical computers can do. Examples of what Quantum computers can do are as follows:

  • Reducing manufacturing related costs
  • Producing cleaner agricultural products
  • Supplying cleaner new energy

Quantum computing is rapidly evolving, and here to stay. Let’s look at some uses of quantum computing and potential future applications.

Additional Uses of Quantum Computing

  • Improve Cryptanalysis: The science, and art of Encrypting and Decrypting information without using the Real Key
  • Drug Discovery: Quantum computing can be used to simulate the molecule behaviors, which can help scientists and researchers to develop new drugs very quickly, and efficiently unlike traditional methods that take years
  • Optimize Traffic Flow in Cities: By analyzing traffic patterns and running simulations, quantum computers can identify the most efficient routes and traffic management strategies. Thereby reducing congestion and increasing transportation efficiency
  • Optimize Financial Models: By analyzing large data sets, quantum computers can identify patterns and trends used to make better investment decisions
  • Picking Stocks and Financial Trading and Banking: By improving the efficiency of banking operations with big financial rewards

Like with everything else, where there are benefits, you look hard enough you see some costs too. Here are some of the potential setbacks of Quantum Computing:

These are Some of Potential Setbacks of Quantum Computing

  • Quantum error correction and environmental sensitivity are potential setbacks
  • Limited applicability may have to be resolved over time
  • Post-quantum cryptography is a governmental security concern
  • Scalability issues appears to be a difficulty
  • Quantum-powered AI could create unintended consequences such as high error rates
  • Cost and accessibility issues may be resolved with time

There is massive promise with Quantum Computing for our Future. It’s that Fantastic!

My Conclusion

The other day I saw Elon Musk, the Billionaire, or is he a Trillionaire entrepreneur now, saying quantum computing is the future. Unfortunately, I couldn’t read the article because I was at my workplace. And No, I did not bookmark it. Anyway, I look at the quantum phenomenon mainly as it relates to my profession so I can continue to make sense of what conventional scientific endeavors may never be able to explain. Personally, I don’t need proof about what I already know is working within my healing relationships. Science is marvelous. But, yet very limited – like everything else within this Creation. I look forward to continued discoveries within the quantum framework. Because that is what we do. We Discover. We Never Create.
