Fitness Journey – Journal of The Entire Journey

This is a Journal of my entire Fitness Journey from the First Week of TrACaining to my First Fitness Competition. So the Quest is Accomplished.

Today is another lovely Sunday morning. I woke up very early. Yet, it was not a problem because I went to bed around 8:15pm last night. You might wonder how early I woke up. Well, I woke up around 5:00 am so that by 6:00 am I was ready to workout on the second workout day of my fitness journey.

How to Start A Fitness Journey

Here is how I started my fitness journey. I met a Fitness Instructor/Body Builder online. It was a chance meeting, and we hit it off. He became my trainer and I, his student. I have decided to keep a journal of my journey into the world of fitness, and eventually fitness competitions for three main reasons:

  1. Publicly chronicling my journey will hopefully keep me accountable, and on task.
  2. My trainer can show his capacity, and skills to transform the human body.
  3. Any person with a desire such as mine to transform their body, or perhaps any thing else will know it is very doable.

Please Note: I drink spring water in glass bottles. And, I put my electrolytes which consist of sodium, magnesium and potassium in my drinking water. Additionally, I use these electrolytes as my cooking salt, as well. We are starting with 3 workout sessions weekly since I am a beginner. My trainer also gave me workouts to do between our live sessions. And, I took the initiative to go for daily walks, which will hopefully morph into going for runs, or at least jogs. Especially when my body becomes lighter for me to carry.

Saturday’s Workout – February 3rd 2024

Today was my first workout session. Unfortunately, my trainer was indisposed, so he made a video showing me what he wanted me to do. Planking with running on the spot. I had to complete 10 sets. You may not believe me, but it took me more than one hour to complete. I was completely exhausted at the end of my last set. But like with many other things, I had pushed myself through the task at hand to prove to myself, and to my trainer, that I am ready for this transformation.

During my workout, I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes

He also gave me two stomach exercises, which I had to modify because I could not raise my legs. Please do not laugh at me. It wasn’t funny then. But, now I smile to myself about my out of shape status. Because not being able to raise my legs was a rude reminder of how out of shape I have become over time.

After my workout I ate my breakfast. Then, I went for a 1 hour and 30-minute walk.

Saturday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Rib eye steak (1 pound), plus salt. And, I finished what was left of my electrolyte water.

Early Dinner: Ground beef (1.06 pounds) plus 1 teaspoon of tallow plus salt. And 1liter of spring water was sipped throughout the day.

I drank half a liter of spring water at bedtime.

Sunday’s Workout – February 4th 2024

Today my trainer was live with me on FB video. He got me to stretch first. First, he got me stretching my neck, my trunk, my legs, and feet to loosen me up for what was to come. Then, he had me do a combination of jumping jacks, squats, and all sorts of workout routines. At the end of our time. I was tired because my staying stamina is currently limited.

You see during the pandemic I walked for 1 hour and a half daily, and sat in front of my computer all day to work. Since March 23rd 2023, I have not been able to get back into my walking routine because now, I have driving time. I started walking during my lunch time about 2 and a half weeks ago for approximately 30 minutes. I think that has helped me because I have muscle memory. After my workout today, I went for a 1 hour and 30-minute walk. It was great. By the time I got home I was hungry. So I ate my brunch.

I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes during my workout.

Sunday Fitness Journey Meals

Brunch: Ground Beef (1.07 Pounds) plus 1 teaspoon of Tallow. And sipped 1 liter of spring water throughout the day

Dinner: Ribeye steak with bone (2.65 pounds).

I drank half a liter of spring water at bedtime

Monday’s Workout – February 5th 2024

Today, I did not workout with my trainer this morning. Instead, I went for my usual walk. This time, I completed my walk in 1 hour and 16 minutes. Getting faster already. Or perhaps it’s because I didn’t do any other workout prior to walking. But I must tell you my body is so sore. Incredibly sore. But, I am excited for the transform ahead. When I told my trainer about the soreness, he said “it is getting in there…” I like the burn. Yet, I hope my body gets used to working out hard quickly. My trainer swears he is being gentle with though. I doubt it!

Monday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Skipped, but I drank a liter of spring water with electrolytes after my workout.

Lunch: Sirloin Beef and Heart (1/2 portion) plus 1 teaspoon of tallow. I couldn’t finish my lunch. So, I ate what was left for dinner. And I drank another liter of water throughout the day.

After lunch I went for a 45-minute walk.

Dinner: Leftovers from lunch. I added some tallow in readiness for my walk tomorrow morning. This means I ate 1 pound of steak and heart during my lunch. And the remaining 1 pound at dinner time.

Additionally, I drank half a liter of spring water at bedtime.

Tuesday’s Workout – February 6th 2024

Today I started the morning by drinking half a liter of spring water then went for my morning walk. Like yesterday, today, there was an improvement in my walking speed. I went through my usual route in 57 minutes. I got home and did my routine stretches.

Then, I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes.

Tuesday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Skipped, but drank a liter of spring water with electrolytes

Lunch: This morning, I cooked 1 pound of heart meat, and 1.045 pounds of Cube Beef Steak. And I took one liter of spring to work that I sipped throughout the day.

After my lunch I took a 27 minutes walk.

Dinner: For dinner, I ate the leftovers from my lunch, to which I added more tallow since I have a live session tomorrow. It is so strange that I do not feel hungry at all. My trainer has demanded that I eat enough. So, I forced myself to eat dinner. Hypothetically, I think my body is simply using my stored body fat as its source of energy. So, loss of inches, here I come…

As usual, I drank half a liter of spring water at bedtime.

Wednesday’s Workout – February 7th 2024

I drank half a liter of water and prepared my electrolyte water for my live workout session. Today, my trainer was late to our session. Of course, I took his tardiness in my stride. Because I reasoned, when I am someday late to one of our workout sessions, he will not be able to chastise me lol! My trainer had me train for 1 hour 30 minutes. I almost had calf cramps on my left leg. So, we had to stop one particular workout routine. After my challenging workout, I took a quick very warm shower to ease some of my aches and pains.

And, of course I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes.

After which, I drove to work. And today, I wasn’t late to work. I got to my clinic before my first scheduled appointment. Thank goodness. All day, I was barely able to move due to my hip join aches. As my trainer had said repeatedly “no pain… no gain…” Indeed!

Wednesday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Skipped.

Lunch: I had New York Steak (1.44 pounds) and liver (0.81 pounds) plus half a teaspoon of tallow and salt. I was not able to finish my lunch so I took it home.

Then as usual, I sipped on 1 liter of spring water throughout the day

Dinner: For dinner, I ate my leftovers from my lunch.

Finally, I drank half a liter of spring water just before bed

Thursday’s Workout – February 8th 2024

I woke up at about 4:18 am. Then, I drank half a liter of spring water. After which I used the restroom. And then, since my hip joints felt better, I decided to do the stomach exercises I couldn’t do yesterday. I did 2 sets of 20s and started having muscle cramp on the same leg as yesterday. However, this time the cramp was in my left lap, rather than my calf. So, I stopped the routine. Then, I left for my morning walk at 4:40am. I got back from walking at 5:49 am. It was time to put my lunch on the stove. After which, I did some stretches.

As, I hung around my home waiting for my food to cook, I put on some oldies music, and boogied down. At lot of energy flowed through my body. I felt strong!

I had some free time between 10:20 am and 11:00 am at the office. So went for a quick 20 minutes walk around my office parking lot. When I finally came back into my office, I completed my 3 sets of 20 stomach exercises. I felt cramps in my stomach. I guess these were reminders of what needs to be strengthened in my body.

Thursday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Skipped. However, I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes

Lunch: Today, I cooked 1.02 pounds of Top Beef Sirloin Steak, and 0.81 pounds of Liver. I added 1 teaspoon of tallow plus salt. I went for another quick 30 minutes walk. Honestly, I was feeling very pumped up. I chatted a lot with my trainer during this last hour of my work day. We were strategizing on the next move for me. He suggested I start running tomorrow, which should facilitate fat burning. He said we can only start sculpting my body after I lose the fat.

Dinner: Again, tonight I had leftovers from lunch, to which I added half a teaspoon of tallow.

Friday’s Workout – February 8th 2024

Today, I woke up at 3:44 am. I decided to go walking/jogging earlier today. I left my front door at 4:10 am and came back home at 5:16 am. This means I spent 1 hour 6 minutes. I had to laugh because it took less time for me to go through my route just walking than walking and jogging. This meant I my jogging was slower than my walking. To be fair to me, my jogging was so slow because I was out of breathe very quickly. I know this will improve with time. So, I am going to hang in there. I felt a little awkward because I had to report my time to my trainer. He wasn’t judgmental.

Additionally, I did 5 sets of 20s stomach exercises. Then, guess what? My trainer sent me a text and a video of another 5 sets of 10s for my stomach. It was a little hard to complete, but my body felt great. You see, I am trying to get six pack abs as soon as possible. My body was burning with fire after the walk/jog in the icy cold morning. Finally, I did my stretches.

Friday Fitness Journey Meals

Breakfast: Skipped. I drank 1 liter of spring water with electrolytes

Lunch: This morning I cooked 2.46 pounds of beef tongue meat, which was seasoned with salt and 2 teaspoons of tallow.

After lunch, I went for a 50 min walk around my clinic’s car park. Then, I completed 10 sets of 20 each of 2 different types of stomach exercises, on my office floor. I drank some desperately needed water. Of course, I went back to working. I felt strong and on fire.

Dinner: Ate my leftovers from lunch. However, I was only able to eat a couple of pieces of meat dipped in tallow. I drank half a liter of spring water. Tonight I went to bed at 6:48pm. My home internet wasn’t working so I could do not evening work. Well, it appears the universe knew exactly what I needed – To Sleep and Rest!

Conclusion of My Week 1 Fitness Journey

This week has been very eventful and new for me. I had mixed feelings about all the rigorous exercises my body went through. However, not once did it cross my mind to quit my fitness journey process. Professionally, I have subjected myself to a lot of training to become as proficient as I am in what I do. I get confirmations and affirmations of my skill sets, capacity to connect, as well as the ability to provide a space for healing from the kind, and generous words of the people I work with.

So, I do not expect the training I have to go through with achieving my fitness goals to be easy. With my prior training, most of it has been about using my intellect, and spirit. Now, with my fitness quest, training my body and having the spirit to power through hard routines are the main foci. And, at these beginning stages, this body, my body is heavy, for which I give myself grace.

You may have noticed I started going for my morning walk/jog around 4:00 am. Well as I pointed out in the video above, according to the TCM Body Clock, the lungs are at their optimal capacity between 3:00 am and 5:00 am. Therefore, I take advantage of this ideology.

I guess I’d be publishing my Fitness Journal for Week 2 because my trainer just sent me a message that he is proposing a revision of our workout, and between our workout routines. See you in the journal pages of my week 2.
