My Fitness Journey – Week 2

This is my Fitness Journey journal entry for week 2. It has been a week of mixed emotions and pain levels. Yet, a week of surprising results.

Today is another Sunday. The 17th of February 2024, and the beginning of another week. On my Fitness calendar, today is the second day of my 3rd week on my how to get Fit journey. But for this current journal entry, I would be reflecting on my progress in week 2.

Needless to say, my nutrition has remained the same throughout this week. As, you may know by now, I adopted the carnivore way of eating more than 2 years ago. And, this nutrition journey has been phenomenal.

So, during week 2 of my fitness journey, I ate a medley of these cuts of meat:

  • Cow tongue
  • Kidney
  • Liver
  • Cheek meat
  • Beef chunk with the bone
  • Ribeye
  • Ground meat

As typical with me, I made soups and stir fries out of these cuts of meat. And when I say stir fries, I mean I allowed the meat on my stove cook, or fry in its own fat. As a rule, I usually only buy cuts of meat with untrimmed fats, or well marbled cuts of meat. However, I have noticed when beef is 100% grass fed and finished, the marbling and fat trimmings on the meat are not as much as when livestock is grained fed somewhere along the production chain.

Unfortunately my oven decided to stop working about 3 weeks ago. Therefore, I haven’t been able to roast any cuts of meat this week. And, I haven’t had the time to research to find a suitable replacement. I guess it will be wiser, and more economical in the long term to buy a brand new oven, rather than go for a refurbished oven. I believe with a brand new oven, I won’t have to worry about replacing my oven for a couple of years to come. So, in week 2 of my fitness journey, although I have an air fryer, I have mainly used my stove to cook. My meals were pretty delicious and aromatic.

Later today, Sunday the 18th of February 2024, I would buy some chicken wings from organically raised chickens. I usually air fry my chicken wings. When chicken wings are air fried with a tad of salt until they become super crispy and yummy, they become a favorite snack of mine. Oh yah! I forgot to tell you. I air fry unfrozen chicken wings at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. If the wings are not as crunchy as I like them, I air fry for another 5 minutes, or so.

Changes in My Workout Routine during My Fitness Journey – Week 2

Like I had mentioned in my last week journal entry, which was my week 1 of my Fitness Journey, my trainer made some modifications to my workout routines. Actually, to be quite honest with you, I was impressed my trainer felt it was necessary to modify my routine, to up my game. Don’t tell him I said I felt flattered, lol!

So, here we go:

These are the Modification to my Workout Routine during My Fitness Journey – Week 2

  1. In week 2, I started running, or rather jogging twice a week. According to my trainer, he knows I feel and think my body is too heavy right now for running/jogging, but he said “you have to…” Because running/jogging will help with weight reduction, and improve my stamina in general. He insisted he wanted me to get on the running/jogging program. So, what do you think the task oriented part of my Self did? I jogged two times in week 2.
  2. I resurrected my elliptical, which I had in storage for the past 5 years. Surprisingly, my elliptical is working quite well.
  3. This week my trainer has had me complete various arms, laps and stomach exercises. It has been crazy to say the least. These workout routines have been of various intensities and complexities, as well as number of sets, and repetitions with each set. I felt stretched to my limits a couple of time. Hey! Truthfully, I felt I got to my limits many times. But, I wasn’t let off the hook. So I completed every single set. After the fact, I felt strong and accomplished.

Other Changes Noticed during My Fitness Journey – Week 2

There are additional changes that were significant to me in week 2. These changes are as follows:

  • I am gradually fitting back into my clothes from 2018. These clothes are from when I was still actively into veganism. Of course some of the clothes from my vegan days fit me better than others. But, what is most cool is I have worn some of these clothes from 2018 to work already.
  • It appears like I lost my appetite. However, honestly, I think it is a case of my body being efficient in stored calorie utilization. It is so exciting to thinking finally, I am changing the composition of my body.
  • My sleep quality has improved exponentially. Because I am smart enough to know I have to be fully rested to attempt my daily workouts, I intentionally prioritize my sleep now. Yay! I feel fantastic about this lifestyle modification.
  • Surprisingly, I find myself having a much lighter mood. Interesting, isn’t it?

My Conclusions on My Fitness Journey – Week 2

It has been an exciting week. And, I am still going very strong and determined to see this journey to the very end. My pain levels have been manageable. Although some days my body hurt very much. However, at the time of this week 2 journal entry, I feel no physical pain. Additionally, I have maintained my carnivore nutrition style. To be honest, I attribute some of the lack of, or limited pain due to having little, or reduced inflammation in my body when compared to when I was eating differently.
