Is College Worth It?

Is College Worth It? Yes and No! It Depends on various Factors. Benefits of Skill based College/University Education can’t be Overemphasized.

The Video Below show Tucker Carlson of Fox News espousing a position on “Is College Worth It?” Very interesting Point of View. You may want to watch it too!

Nowadays, attending, or not attending College has become a subject of debate. Years ago, going to College was the main trajectory towards a Better Life. According to Tucker Carlson’s presentation, the cost of university/college education has risen by 213%, an inflation rate much higher than the National Inflation Rate. This means, the Cost of getting an Education may just Outweigh its Usefulness depending on what was studied in college.

Additionally, Tucker Carlson Tonight, stated “Colleges barely teach, yet every year they increase their fees. Try that in a private business, you might get indicted for fraud. Do it at an American university and you get billions in taxpayer subsidies.”

It is quite confusing that an increase in college/university tuition does not bring about an increase in salary for Teachers, nor an increase in the Knowledge and Skill base of College graduates.

Is College Worth It

For Example, Research Showed

  • 45 percent of students “did not demonstrate any significant improvement in learning” during the first two years of college/university education.
  • Close to 40 percent didn’t learn anything substantial during their four year education.
  • Many Students Failed to really Study throughout their college education.
  • While 35 percent of the Students interviewed reported spending less than 5 hours a week on their studies. We have the Future of education. Check it out here!

Lets Review some More Research Findings.

Again the Question, Is College Worth It? Becomes a Bone of Contention.

Tucker Carlson stated,

“CLEARLY College is not making People Smarter.”

Tucker Carlson also reported the following:

  • Students studies approximately only three hours a day. Twice this time in spent on dining, shopping, and hanging out.
  • College Grads in the US test at, or less than High School students in many other Countries.
  • There is a consistent increase in Adult Illiteracy because findings show most College Graduates are Below Average on Cognitive Tasks.
  • University and College Classes have become less rigorous. But, somehow, College GPA averages are over 3.0. Grade Inflation ranks Highest in Private Schools. In Public School more Students are Failing, but Nobody is Held Back.
  • Top Universities are also impacted by the decline in their Academic Excellence and Rigor.

Tucker Carlson further highlighted,

Is College Worth It

And with $Billions in Tax Payer dollars being sent to these Institutions??? WHAT!!! If this was a Private Business there would be Fraud Indictments.”

My Point of View

So, What is the Answer?

Like I said, there are Solutions to these Academic issues by providing Value to the Marketplace, and Access to alternative Career pathways. You may ask, how much it Costs?

Seems too good to be true? Especially when compared to offerings by similar business communities, or College education, and the Distrust the latter has evoked in many Americans. Maybe also others around the world. But, I still love being university/college educated. And if you, get college educated and then, create multiple streams of income, it is a Win/Win all around.

The above premise is only one alternative. There are several alternatives. I will encourage anyone, yes YOU, who wants a college/university degree to go for a course of study that will empower you to become a provider of services, goods, or products. So, you do not find yourself in this quagmire of having to “I beg to apply…” after spending so many years in school. Follow your heart and your aptitude. Remember, we all have been programmed to think it is very necessary to go to school and learn to become professionals in careers that have been very popular over the ages.

Think and explore outside the box. I am doing that myself. Initially, it may feel a little awkward. But, trust me, you get used to picking a path different from what your family, friends, or others are doing. Needless to say, why would you go to college, or university to study Medicine, Psychology, or Economics when what you discovered at a very young age is contrary. For example, why would you have a love and aptitude for Fashion Designing, or Cooking, but you go to study Medicine, first? Then, probably circle back to becoming a chef? I have done that in a roundabout way, myself. Does that even make sense to you? It sure does not make any sense to me, especially now, my goodness!!

Is college worth it? For me, its a Yes. But, I think we need to tailor our college/university education towards developing skills and knowledge. I think this combination is the ultimate for a successful professional, career and fulfilling life. You love what you do. And, it comes easy to you because you have an aptitude for it. Then, on top of that, you are making money!
