Regenerative Agriculture! A new Modern Day concept, but a Natural way of Life and Living. Our Ancestors knew about it, Why haven’t WE? It is all about restoring Health with Regenerative Agriculture – Soil Health, Plant Health, Animal or Livestock Health and Our Health. Currently, our food system is broken. This assertion is really an understatement. Because our food system, our world is more appropriately described as being in Shambles. Interestingly and very unexpectedly, in the 1400s, the word Shambles meant someone was going to the Meat Market. With the passage of time, the word Shambles referred to the Slaughterhouse, which later transitioned to refer to any place of Carnage. In the 1900s, the word Shambles morphed again, but lost some of its potency. So, instead of a Bloody Scene, Shambles became known to mean a Mess, or a Place of Disorder.

As stated by Michigan Radio, “Whether it’s “in shambles” or “a shambles,” it’s still a mess.” Without any doubts, our food production system, both plants and livestock products are highly nutrient deficient, and in “Shambles.” Not only are many of our food products nutrient deficient, many have their molecular and crystalline structures denatured by various production processes and chemicals. As a result, in America, only one out of eight (i.e., 12%) people are Metabolically Healthy. Almost all ailments from Depression to Cancer are Autoimmune Conditions (a.k.a. metabolic diseases). In my mind, the Industrialization and commercialization of Farming, of Food Production has caused so much Carnage on the people of this planet. It is really pitiful!

We All Need to Do Things Differently NOW!!!

What is Regenerative Agriculture?

With regenerative agriculture the short term objective, and long term goals are to heal the Soil of our Earth, so as to, in turn, produce the healthiest plant and animal foods. Because of the many industrial revolutions we have experienced, farmers have ceaselessly been trying to genetically manipulate the planting, growing and harvesting of our plant foods. The main idea behind these commercialized farming methods was to produce much more food, at the cheapest price possible (a.k.a. food security) for the rapidly expanding World Population. And, of course there were other reasons for the industrialization of Agriculture such as increased revenue for the production companies, and income for families; and perhaps increased production efficiency.

My Thoughts

Sometimes I wonder how the welfare of the People of The World would have been if we didn’t try to feed Everyone Else. But rather limiting the food production and consumption to the Local Population within a specified region. For one, this idea of feeding off the Land and Sea within our local areas could have forced us to feed and nourish ourselves with Seasonal Foods only. In general, the viability of eating according to the seasons within our specific locality (i.e., where we live) would also have encouraged and supported us to Wait, and only consume food when fully mature, whether it be plants or livestock. Meaning our current dilemma of eating seasonal Fruits, Nuts, and Seeds all year round. Or, eating prematurely harvested Vegetables. Or, consuming Livestock, or Seafood prematurely slaughtered, or caught would not have been a Trend we Need to Fix.

Then, I asked How would we Survive during Drought Periods if we Follow Nature’s Cycles?

Regenerative Agriculture

Surely, Mother Earth is capable of sustaining its local population even during droughts. This is where Regenerative farming becomes an important and sustainable food system practice. Because Regenerative Agriculture encourages retention of moisture and nutrients in the soil, the soil has the capacity to keep itself moist even during drought periods. Thus allowing micro and macro organisms, plants, livestock, and humans to continue to maintain their Symbiotic, Vibrant and Circular relationship irrespective of any drought periods, or other possible adverse environmental conditions.

Industrialized (Conventional or Degenerative) Agriculture

Conventional, or degenerative farming practices have led to huge imbalances in the Soil Ecosystem, and in the Pollution of our Waters. Although, the use and effects of glyphosates have been controversial, some studies found the use of Glyphosates in industrial farming contributes to the Pollution of the soil on our planet, today. Furthermore, destructive farming practices which include the Maltreatment of our Livestock, use of other Toxic Chemicals, Loss of Topsoil vitality and Genetical engineering of Crops are fundamentally detrimental to our Food Quality.

These commercialized food practices reduce the Vitality, and Denatures the Food we consume daily. Additionally, the global Climate Change saga has been attributed, in part, to these unsustainable farming practices. Excitingly, the Regenerative Farming Movement has found natural and regenerative farming supports and promotes our farms to become Self-Reliant ecosystems. As more agriculturists and people are embracing the concept of cultivating self-reliant farms, the more our Universe and everything within benefits.

Regenerative Farming vs Degenerative Agriculture

With degenerative (i.e., conventional) farming practices, plants and livestock production are typically kept separate from each other. On the other hand, Regenerative agriculture combines and keeps the plant and animal ecosystems in Circular Rotation; essentially, the animals feed the plants, and the plants feed the animals. Regenerative farming produces beef that is more nutrient dense than beef from livestock conventionally farmed. The more nutrient dense our food, the better brain function we have such as the capacity for optimal problem solving, decision making and brain power, in general.

The New Direction for Farming and Agricultural Practices

What is the new direction of farming? I truly believe Regenerative Agriculture and Farming is the way of out of this poor Food Quality quagmire. Regenerative farming will enhance the quality of the soil. This is a proven fact… And when the quality of our soil is restored to its Optimal and Natural State, the soil can better support and promote the health of our plants, livestock and us (i.e., humans).

My Perspective

  • By weaning our soils off industrial farming chemicals used in today’s farming practices, and food production, the soil will be enhanced because the natural soil Biomes can thrive once again.
  • And, by allowing Nature do its thing. By, stopping our destructive farming practices on all levels. Leaving the soil ecosystem alone to do its thing will naturally support a large variety of biomes and vegetation to Flourish to Nourish the animals and every other living thing depend on this naturally occurring circular and symbiotic arrangement.
  • We need to be deliberate and intentional in supporting a Regenerative and Symbiotic Relationship between Micro and Macro Organisms, Plants, and Livestock.
  • This means, we humans, farmers and everyone else need to curb our excessive destructive ways, and cultivate Respect, Consideration, and Tenderness for Nature.
  • After all, We are Part of Nature. So, Respect, and Consideration for Nature is Innate to us. Therefore support and the promotion of regenerative farming and agriculture must not be Strange to us, albeit a little Hard. Because we have deviated so much from what Nature, and what a Natural lifestyle really means.

One major way the Groups within the Regenerative Farming Movement is creating awareness about the Regenerative protocol is by:

The number of proponents of the Regenerative Farming and Agriculture Movement is increasing more and more rapidly. The Regenerative Framing Movement comprises of people from different walk(s) of life; People who have different Jobs. And, people of different Social Statuses, including:

  • Members of the Carnivore, Keto and Vegan communities. I am a member of the Carnivore way of eating community. More appropriately, I would say I am a silent Carnivore community member. However, I actively disseminate Information on the Benefits of this Nutrition Lifestyle to people I work with daily. In reality, to anyone who cares, and lends me a listening ear. That’s more like it. Like I said on some other pages within my PBS Blog, I will someday give a detailed account of my Carnivore way of eating journey. But, not just yet!

My Experiences with Ranchers

For a couple of years, I have bought Grass Fed and Grass Finished Beef. It all started with having selections of Cow Meat – Head to Tail shipped to me in frozen boxes. From getting grass fed and finished Red Meat shipped to me, I graduated to buying Grass Fed and Grass Finished beef – Head to Tail from a rancher at my local Farmers Market on Saturdays. Then this year in June, I made a huge decision. And I bought half of a cow –Head to Tail. My deep freezer was full to its capacity. Needless to say, my experiences with ranchers have been exceptional.

The cows at these ranches are organically nurtured and grown. That I am aware of… And the beef meat from these organically grown cows are Flavorful and Aromatically superior to store bought meats in whichever form the meat is prepared – roasted (oven or pan roasted), air fried, or made into soups or broth. However, I am not 100% sure if these ranchers practice regenerative farming and agriculture.

In a Nutshell, Here are some Benefits I have Experienced with eating Grass Fed and Finished Beef and related Animal products

  • Drastic reduction in inflammation. Meaning bye bye to aches and pain, including joint pain
  • Sustained energy level throughout the day
  • Improved brain function such as being sharp and quick in making cognitive connections, and being witty
  • Bye bye dry eyes. Very happy about this improvement. Looking forward to when I do not have to wear reading eyeglasses. Wearing reading glasses have always bugged me…
  • And the list goes on and on… Like I said earlier, I’d probably dedicate a page or more to this aspect of my life experiences… So, watch out!

I met another Rancher – RC Carter of Carter Country Meats (CC Meats). CC Meats is a ranch run by Third Generation Ranchers out of Wyoming in the United States of America. This is also a family owned Ranch. Just like the other ranches I had referenced earlier. The difference between the CC Meats Ranch, and the other ranches is I am sure the livestock and poultry raised on the CC Meats ranch are grazed on Regenerative and Restorative pastures. Wow! what a huge difference in the quality of Beef and poultry meat.

By now, you know I am completely into Regenerative Farming, and the Carnivore way of Feeding. So naturally I am going to be into any Ranch that embodies regenerative and restorative Ideologies, and Practices. And, once the meat in my freezer is gone, which is soon.
