IoT- Basic guide to build an IoT ecosystem are steps on how to build a great internet of things ecosystem that works to serve you always! The Information is very interesting. The internet of things fosters connectivity between parties across the world, which has shrunk the world into a Global Village. The Internet of Things is a network of machines, objects that use software and sensors, as well as physical devices to collect information, and exchange this information over the internet. These processes enable remote monitoring and control.
Now that you know what the internet of things means in a nutshell, let’s go through what is involved to build this IoT Ecosystem. But, before you proceed, I recommend you watch this video.
Video on the Internet of Things (IoT)
What do You Need to Create an Internet of Things Ecosystem?
To implement the internet of things architecture some items, and software are needed:
- A piece of technology that supports internet connectivity
- Technology that is equipped with a sensor with the capacity for measurement.
- The internet of things device should be able to transmit sensor data automatically, without any form of interruption.
- A IoT platform which has the capacities to connect everything in an internet of things ecosystem is also needed. Sensor data is transmitted to an IoT platform.
What is Role of an IoT Platform
Among Corporations and Enterprises
The internet of things platform has a slightly more robust roles within big establishments, including as follows:
- An IoT has a number of functions, such as processing data and taking actions including as follows:
- Updating systems across the organization
- Providing insights to users
- Triggering automated actions across the ecosystem
- Allowing paint robots and e-cars give real time updates on their status
Among Individual and Business Users
So, now we look at what the internet of things platform does for individual and business uses, which are as follows:
- Maintaining their internet of things ecosystem
- Managing devices in the internet of things ecosystem
- Applying analytics, which allow for building new services on internet of things Insights.
How Does IoT Work?
There are Four steps involved in building an internet of things ecosystem…
A). A Device
Physical devices that can be any object that has the capacity to measure and transmit Data. Examples of such devices are cameras, sensors, and actuators that measure the temperature, pressure, location, velocity and vibration. This data is communicated to an IoT platform.
B). Connectivity
Usually, network protocols are used to standardize how information flows from internet of things devices to the platform. The internet of things platform could be located remotely on the cloud, or locally on an on-premises server. Some examples of network protocols are WIFI, Lightweight M2M (LWM2M), CoAP, and LoRaWAN (LoRa Wide Area Network) and Cellular,
C). The platform.
The internet of things platform is the central hub where everything in the ecosystem is connected. Additionally, the platform connects the devices to the internet, which enables the management and analysis of data.
D). Application Layer
The layer consists of applications, and software an organization uses to run its business. Internet of things data integration drives updates to these applications to alert users, and trigger actions across the organization’s departments.
Everything so fact appears straightforward with the basic guide to setting up an IoT ecosystem. Yet, it seems some additional factors need to be looked at to make sure the IoT ecosystem is successfully set up. Now, let’s look at additional variables to consider to have a better chance at success. Here we go…
Steps to Ensure Success with Building the IoT Ecosystem
- Involve everyone in your establishment in using the internet of things and not only IT experts in your company. This will facilitate the generation of useful data across departments
- It will be most useful to think Big, start Small, move Fast, and have a clear vision for your future use of the IoT
- You must have Clear business objectives. Because there is a tendency for companies to be in such a hurry to jump into the IoT ecosystem building that they fail to have clear objectives at inception
- With internet of things, the connection between the virtual and physical worlds are very important to optimize your business operations
- Do not limit your range by having an internet of things platform that has speed, open standards and flexibility
There are additional steps to consider to be successful with Internet of Things Ecosystem building…
- Use generated data analytics to gain insights to accomplish business targets and goals
- Think about security from the begin. Especially security of data gathered from customers
- Do not Reinvent the wheel. Rather use existing platforms. has been developed already
- You need to be able to connect things anywhere and everywhere be it within the premises of your company grounds, and remote infrastructures
- Do not go into the internet of things alone because successful implementation of IoT requires a wide range of skills. So, combining external expertise and in-house know how is most likely to accumulate in success of the project
My Take
Although all these are so fascinating, there are things more than this page has been able to outline that goes on in the background, which accounts for the seamless functioning of the Internet of Things Ecosystem. I am in Awe over what goes into having access to the technology we utilize daily. And, without a thought. For example, our Solar Power Energy and our Inpersona and Helo Healthcare Smart Device are both genius innovations. You know I might never be able to build an IoT Ecosystem. But, I have some basic knowledge about the different components required to build this ecosystem, And, how this system is expected to function when properly set up.
You know how it is most beneficial if you want to own a hotel, that you formally educate yourself on hotel and business management? Although, you will be hiring professionals to work for you. Same with building an IoT ecosystem. Why? Because Knowledge is POWER.
What do you think about the Internet of Things and all it brings to the table, good or bad?
