Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel in Neuchâtel is a beautifully located Four-Star Hotel in the Western and French speaking part of Switzerland. It is located right by Lake Neuchâtel at Esplanade Leopold Robert 2, Neuchatel, 2000, Switzerland. I believe Neuchatel is approximately 20 km that is approximately 12.4 miles from the French border. Both times I was there this year, the scene I saw when I looked out of my hotel room window was incredibly enchanting. Right by the outside the Beaulac is the Piers where boats are secured to the moor. This Hotel is very centrally located. And you can get to Everything on Foot. That I really Liked. Least I forget. The Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel in Neuchâtel, Switzerland has a Sushi and Rooftop Bar and they are Wow! The view from up there is Truly Special.
I am not quite sure how I was able to pull myself away from the Stillness and Normal pace back into my perpetually Chaotic and Fast paced life in the US. My cousins all wondered how we do what we do in the US. Too much… Simply too much Movement and too little Rest.
My Trips to Neuchatel in Switzerland in March (Winter) and June (Summer) and Stay at Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel
As usual my trip to Switzerland was work related. And I invited my mother to travel with me. This was a well-deserved break for my mom after all the calamity that had befallen our family. Sometime in November or December 2022, I had signed up for a Professional Training workshop, which was from the 3rd of March to the 5th of March 2023. Then a break for a few days. The Intensive Part of the Training lasted from the 8th of March to the 12th of March.
March Trip (Winter) and Stay at Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel
My mom and I departed from the United States of America on the 1st of March, at night. We arrived in Zurich (German speaking Region) in the morning of the 2nd of March. It was pretty cold so we had our winter jackets on. My younger brother’s ex-wife and her mother came to the airport to welcome us. We were very happy to see each other. After all the hugging and kisses, we ate some food. And off to the train station we went. The Bahnhof (i.e., train station in the German language) is situated on the lower level of the International Airport in Zurich. We chose go through the Zurich airport, rather than the Geneva airport because the German language is a familiar language to us. My mother more so than me.

My brother’s ex-wife Molly had already bought train tickets for us, so it was easy for to transition from the airport to our train. By the way, the 2nd of March was Molly’s birthday and mine was on the 3rd of March. Molly and I decided we would celebrate our birthdays after my training.

Our train ride to Neuchâtel lasted approximately two hours. The whole ride was a scenic view. It felt like I was looking at postcards of beautiful view of natural scenery such as mountains, beautiful countryside, hills with cattle and small houses, or rows of houses, through my cabin window. Of course not! I didn’t sleep through all of that. Although I was very tired from our trip from the States, I was wide awake to take in all Beauty I could.

Two hours after we said goodbyes to Molly and her mother, my mom and I arrived at Neuchâtel Things were a bit seltsam (i.e., strange, odd in the German language) because my mom and I are not used to the French language. We cannot speak French, nor can we read it. Surprisingly, less people either spoke the English language in Neuchâtel, or they simply refused to speak to us in the English language. That was a shift in attitude from the willingness to engage in the English language by most of the people in Zurich during the brief time we spent there.

The hotel reception staff were very friendly. We collected our room key. I mean card keys and upstairs we went. Here is a video showing what the room looks like. My mom did the video. She spoke in the Igbo language. I will include English subtitles if I can figure out how to. We shall see!

“We have to look for where we eat outside… this is our room (at the Best Western Premier Beaulac)… I’m not sure if the video is working… these are our beds… they just came to separate them, now… for the light in here, if you do not use the card key, the light will not work anywhere in here…This is a nice place… here is Nwankem.. then we shall bathe… this place is lovely… these are the closets they provided for us. There is a safe… here is the toilet… everything works with the card… without it nothing works. No bath tub, just a shower… I guess they do not have bath tubs… everywhere is lovely… the people were friendly when we came in here… we are going to bathe now… we are tired… Bye…”
Dinner and Breakfast at Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel in Neuchâtel
After resting a while in our very comfortable room, we got hungry. Naturally, we went to the restaurant downstairs at the Lobby Level. We were warmly greeted. We sat down to Feast. It took me forever to decide what I wanted to eat for Dinner. You see, I was very hungry and I eat only animal products. The wall I was up against was their portion sizes were very small. Thank goodness I had the foresight and travelled with dehydrated beef meat. Yes, you read correctly. Before, I travelled I didn’t know one could travel out of the US and into another country with certain foods. Dried Meat being one of the permitted food stuffs.
I got a piece of Steak for Dinner at the Restaurant. When I got back to my room, I ate some of my dehydrated meat. Dinner was expensive. However, the issue was the portions were to small to fill me up because I typically eat once a day. At most, I eat twice. Breakfast was better. My mom really enjoyed it. I was able to eat some scrambles eggs, yogurt, raw Salmon fish, and I ate bacon strips twice or thrice. Subsequently, I stayed away from the bacon because of the oil in which it was fried – vegetable oil. We knew we had to go into the City Center to locate our source of Food while in Neuchâtel.

On the 3rd of March I met the other attendees at the Training Workshop. The organizers of the workshop bought a small cake for me. And, all the attendees sang the Happy Birthday song for me. That was really sweet. Of course, I didn’t eat the cake. I am kind of strict with my nutrition. I saved my cup cake for my mom. She enjoyed it.
The Neuchâtel City Center is beautiful. Everywhere, there are lot of rustic, but Majestic looking buildings with many Stairs running between these Buildings. We continued to eat Breakfast at the Hotel Beaulac daily. But we bought grocery at the Aldi and Coop Supermarkets which were located in the City Center. At first, we ate dinner in a couple of Restaurants. The food always tasted good. But, the portions were so small, I was afraid I won’t be getting enough calories for someone, who mostly eats One Meal A Day (OMAD). Finally we found a Chinese Restaurant at the City Center, which was fairly close to our hotel.

So, we bought groceries such as Dehydrated Meats, Salmon Fish, and Bio yogurt. My mom picked out what she wanted as Knick knacks in between her meals during these Grocery trips. Then, we went to the Chinese Restaurant we had Discovered every other evening for Dinner. These eating plan worked very well for us and we were never hungry.
Surprising Food Quality
I must confess the Food Quality in Neuchâtel, and also in Zurich and Flawil beat the Food in the US hands down. I guess you are wondering what I mean. Well, what I am trying to say is if you have dietary needs, and you visit Switzerland, you will be okay. My body did not get inflamed like it would in the US whenever I consumed Dairy products. What the heck!! What was that all about? Zero inflammation when I consumed yogurt as much as I wanted, especially in the evenings when my mom and I were not going for Dinner at the Chinese Restaurant. So, what ingredients are in American Fermented Yogurt? I have no answers.
Some Tourists’ Sites We didn’t Visited in Neuchâtel, But They Exist
Honestly, when in Neuchâtel all I wanted to do was Slow Down. I just wanted to BE, and I toyed with the thoughts, and idea of not going to the Workshop. But fortunately, I allowed my Logic take precedence. I am happy with myself because I chose to Listen to, and Act out what my Logic was pointing out to me. Do you want to know what my Logical Mind said to me? It told me I would Regret spending so much money on this Trip to Switzerland, and Registration for the Workshop and have nothing to show for it. No, new Tools in my Tools Box.
My Priority on This Trip
My priority was not to visit a surplus number of tourist sites. No, not at all. All I wanted to do was, Rest and then, Sleep. So, I did just that. However, the Hotel Staff at the Front Desk had given my mom and I some notable Tourists’ Sites. There is a lot to do in the City and Environs for Outdoor Lovers, Food and Culture. Shopping in Neuchâtel
My mom and I felt things were expensive in Neuchâtel, But, we were on a planned vacation so we had enough money. We were able to buy certain food items to bring back to the US. I bought plenty 100% sugar free chocolates. One of the items my mom was sure to buy was Ovaltine due to its very low sugar content. Clothes were too expensive. But, I must say the Boutiques in Neuchâtel have High Fashion. My dress size was kind of an issue, but not quite, though. Anyway, we bought no clothing.
Trip From Neuchâtel To and Stay in Zurich
We left Neuchâtel and I left the relationships I was just starting to Nurture. I must say Krissy and I have maintained our relationship over time. Also, I have a decent relationship with my trainers, especially Mindy. Before we left Neuchâtel, my mom and I walked up to the train station to get tickets that would take us back to Zurich. During that beautiful walk, we saw quite a bit of the Town/City. Pretty indeed… So, before we left Neuchâtel, we had planned an itinerary for when we get to Zurich. I have relatives – as in first cousins and their respective families, in Zurich.
My Nephew, Kenny also lives in Zurich. We got to see each and hang out. It felt so natural though we hadn’t seen for many years. I am thinking we hadn’t seen each other in more than 20 years, or so. It was really Nice to seeing everyone of Us so Grown. A lot of catching up. And, a lot of Laughing. Laughter is good Medicine for the Soul. It felt so good. Then we had to Leave Zurich, but before we left we spent an beautiful afternoon with my nephew Kenny and his mom, Molly. As well as with my Spiritual Parents in Flawil. I shall talk about that part of my trip in another article.
Trip Back to the States – My Mom and I
My mother and I got back to the US safely. We were so happy we could spend some quality time together, after all our Heartaches. We stayed with our Friend, Vicky and her husband in New Jersey for two days before my Mom flew back to Texas and I to California.
Trip Back to Neuchâtel in June (Summer)
On the first week of June of this year, I returned to Neuchâtel to complete my Professional Training. Neuchâtel was transformed. My friend Krissy met up with me at the train station. She arrived in Neuchâtel, one day before my arrival. People were everywhere. I could sense the Festivity in the Air. The town and its people appeared laid back. It seemed Everyone was having Fun. There was Summer in the Air. People were swimming in the Lake. Others were sailing. While others were gyrating on the Pier. I felt Welcomed Back Home. Home during Summer. It had a different vibe from when I was there in Winter. There was a Pleasant Feeling, that washed over me as I observed my surroundings, as I Compared Neuchâtel during Winter, and during Summer. Each had its own Special Appeal. Exceptional Views!
Food and Drink during Summer in Neuchâtel
For my meals, I still ate at the same Chinese restaurant. And, I went grocery shopping at Aldi and Coop. Although some attendees at this training suggested restaurants they felt had better quality of food. I kept to what I was used to. If it ain’t broken, why fix it, right? I went to the Neuchâtel Lake, and watched others swim, while I waited for Krissy. She loves to be in the Water.
Neuchâtel was more Active and Alive. Food and Drink vendors were Everywhere by the Lake. People were playing games and sports; dancing to music; and just hanging out. It was wonderful to behold. I loved it all. I hung out with a couple of my fellow attendees at the Lake. Those were very Relaxing times for me. However because I stayed for only one weekend, Jet Lag did a number on me. My body didn’t have the chance to adjust before it was time for me to say Goodbye to Neuchâtel, again
Summing Up
Today, All I can say is How delighted and Grateful I feel to have been able to make those Trips to Neuchâtel, a historic Town/City I’d recommend Any Day as a Short Tourist Destination. Most of all, when you go Visiting Neuchâtel, you Have to Stay at the Best Western Premier Beaulac Hotel in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. I had an Awesome Experience.
